taversity.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=143&proposalid=12282\nData governance (
DG) is the overall management of the availability, usability, integrity, an
d security of data used in an enterprise. A sound data governance program i
ncludes a governing body or council, a defined set of procedures, and a pla
n to execute those procedures. To obtain a low Total Cost of Ownership
(TCO) and a significantly reduced LOE and TTM and, of course, a
rapid ROI of the automation of the data governance procedures, the use of l
icense-free, open-source, world-tested, highly scalable components is sugge
sted as the constituents of the automation implementation. Regardless
of the complexity of an organization’s data governance program, a str
eaming data plane can be built and extended to become the complete automati
on of the data governance program. This data plane, implemented with o
pen-source components and commodity programming languages and skills, can b
e deployed as highly scalable microservices. Using components, DAMA K
nowledge Areas of Data Governance can be operational in production in as li
ttle as one to three labor months (4 to 12 business weeks).
\nThe purpose of this talk is not to present academic concepts but to
show attendees how to automate their data governance program in the shorte
st time with the greatest results possible using the appropriate “inc
ubation” methodology, open-source components, microservices structure
, and the docker and Kubernetes deployment entities.\n
